The Houston Police Department were called Friday to Chestnut and King streets after a report of shots fired. One person is charged. 

Houston police charged a local man Friday after he fired a gun during a dispute.

Chad W. Schneider, 33, of 503 King St. in Houston, was cited for discharging a firearm in city limits.

An officer responded at about 6 p.m. after a woman reported that a gun had been fired during a fight at Chestnut Street and King Street. During an investigation, Schneider told the officer he had fired a shot from a .556-caliber AR pistol into the ground as a warning to another man involved who he said appeared to be holding a baseball bat.

The gun, an ammunition magazine and 30 rounds of ammo were seized as evidence. police said.

The other man was not located, but was to be questioned.

It is the second time gun fire has been reported in the city in the last month. In the last incident, shots were fired at a house on Bryan Street.
