Rescue squad called to accident southeast of Houston; two hurt

The Houston Rural Fire Department Rescue Squad was called about 8:50 a.m. Friday to an accident.

First responders were called to Highway DD about six miles south of Houston when a northbound Chevrolet driven by Joshua I. Kane, 33, ran off the left side of the highway, overturned and struck a fence, said Tpr. Marty Wiseman. 

Kane and a passenger, David B. Nixdorf, 2, were injured. Kane had moderate injuries and Nixdorf had minor injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital. 

The vehicle was totaled. Kane was no wearing a seat belt, and Nixdorf was.
