Ruth Lorene Britzman, of Jackson, Mo., passed away at the age of 86 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Jan. 19, 2019. Ruth was born in Iowa to William “Homer” and Martha Stewart on Nov. 3, 1932. The family than relocated to Missouri and she graduated from Ava, Mo., High School in 1950.
She married Ernest E. Britzman on May 27, 1957, in Cabool, Mo., and they relocated to Jackson, Mo., in 1972 due to her husband’s employment with ABF Trucking.
Anyone that knew Ruth could tell you of her strong Christian faith. She attended First Assembly of God in Jackson, Mo., and also New Life Fellowship in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Ruth loved camping, Bluegrass Festivals, gardening, crafts, singing gospel music, and playing her guitar. She was very involved with her children and grandchildren serving as a member of the PTA and as room mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest E. Britzman; son, Robert “Bobby” E. Britzman; great-grandson, Christopher W. Britzman; and siblings, Tom, Leamon, Erple, Lowell and Helen Stewart.
Loving survivors include four children, Lola M. Shipp of Hayti, Mo., Linda S.(Gordon) Valentine-Neal of Columbia, Ky., Mary A. Britzman of Jackson, Mo., and William “Bill” A. (Denise) Britzman of Jasper, Ind.; and adopted granddaughter Amber E. Britzman of Cape Girardeau, Mo. Other grandchildren include: Wendy (Dennis) Bartley, Mendy (Billy) Strange, Brandy (Kyle) Bruce, Garrett Senn, Greg (Lacie) Smith, Caleb Smith, Dalton Smith, Chris E., Courtney, Matt, and Alex Britzman; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, with services following at 11 a.m. at Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home in Cabool, Mo. Interment will be next to her husband and son in White Rock Cemetery in Bucyrus, Mo.
