A Texas County man faces a felony charge after allegedly engaging in illegal sexual relations with a teenage girl.
Texas County Sheriff Scott Lindsey said that in response to a referral from the Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division, an investigation was initiated on Jan. 24 for allegations of statutory rape.Â
During the investigation, a 16-year-old girl was identified as the alleged victim, and the suspect was identified as Samuel W. Thomas, 35, of 15416 Highway AA at Bucyrus. Thomas was interviewed and admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim twice between May 2018 and January 2019.Â
Thomas was arrested and is charged with second-degree statutory rape (a class D felony). He is held in the Texas County Jail on $200,000 bond. Â
