Leroy G. Leggett Sr., of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at the Arkansas Veterans Home in Fayetteville, Ark., following a long illness at the age of 70.

He was born March 2, 1948, in Saint Joseph, Mo., the son of the late Glen O. Leggett and late Maxine (Hopkins) Leggett.

Leroy grew up in the Helena, Mo., area. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1967 then joined the U.S. Air Force.

Leroy was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served three tours overseas in Turkey. After retirement from the Air Force, Leroy moved his family to a farm in the Houston, Mo., area. Leroy owned and operated the Houston Bakery & Coffee Shop for some time. He then drove an over-the-road truck for many years. Leroy enjoyed rock hunting, baking, and making memories with his family and friends.

Leroy was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Miller on May 17, 1968, in Flag Springs, Mo., and to this union was born one daughter and two sons.

Later in life after the passing of Ruth Ann, Leroy was remarried to Jeanne Pittman on Dec. 7, 2013.

Leroy was saved as a young boy and enjoyed going to church with his family and friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Maurice Leggett; one sister, Mabel Lee; and his wife, Ruth Ann.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne; three children, Leroy G. Leggett Jr. (Diane), Teresa Leggett Kuhlman (Jens) and Byron Leggett (Linda); one brother, Glen Leggett (Genny); eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and also by many more family and friends.

A memorial service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at Evans Funeral Home in Houston, Mo., with Pastor Roy Ralph officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with full military rites provided by Whiteman Air Force Base. Arrangements are under the direction Evans Funeral Home.
