The Houston Tigers lost a pair of road games last week as the regular season nears its conclusion.
Last Tuesday, HHS was beaten 60-36 at Ava. On Friday, the Tigers lost 58-44 at Willow Springs.
Junior Clayton Moore hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored a team-best 18 points in the defeat at Willow Springs. Ty Franklin added 13 points.
HHS (8-16, 1-5 South Central Association) trailed 14-9 after the first quarter and by 10 points at the half.
Last Tuesday at Ava, Moore scored 18 points as the lone HHS player in double figures. Dakota Burchett added six points.
Ava jumped ahead 21-5 after the opening quarter.
Houston traveled to Salem on Tuesday and hosts Mountain Grove on Friday to wrap up the regular season. The Tigers play Doniphan in the first round of districts at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain Grove High School.
HHS needs two victories for the program’s first 10-win season since 2010. Another SCA victory would give the Tigers two for the first time since that same season. Last week, Houston snapped a 42-game losing skid in the conference by beating Cabool.
