Doug Lane began duties March 4 as the new chief executive officer of Intercounty.

A 12-year employee of the Intercounty Electric Cooperative Association has been named the organization’s new chief executive officer.

Raymondville resident Doug Lane was announced Monday as the leader of the Licking-based cooperative. Lane has served as director of safety and facilities and most recently as director of operations.

Lane began his duties in the new role March 4. Susan Parish, who filled in as interim CEO since last summer when former director Aaron Bradshaw departed for the same role at Co-Mo Electric in Tipton, was appointed to assistant CEO and will aide Lane during his transition.

Board president Jim White commended Parish and Intercounty’s staff for their efforts the past several months during the search for a new director.

“The board is looking forward to having Doug lead Intercounty’s outstanding team who work to keep the lights on for our cooperative members every day,” White said.

Lane received both his management internship program and certified loss control professional credentials during his time with the co-ops. Prior to coming to IECA in 2007, Lane spent 26 years at Clay County Electric Cooperative in Arkansas. Like many co-op employees, Lane started out on the right-of-way and worked his way up from the brush crew to a lineman, staking engineer and eventually operations manager.
