City of Houston Fire Department Chief Robbie Smith (in the white helmet) and Houston Rural FD Chief Don Gaston discuss matters at the scene of a house fire call Tuesday afternoon on West Highway 17. Firefighter Jon Cook is seen heading back into the structure to remove scorched material and the occupants of the residence wait at left.

Personnel from the City of Houston and Houston Rural fire departments responded to a house fire on West Highway 17 about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

City of Houston Fire Chief Robbie Smith said the blaze began at an electrical junction box in the home’s attic.

Smith said some insulation and other material burned, but responders were able to douse the flames before any major damage was done to the home.

Two Houston Police Department officers diverted traffic onto surface streets while fire department workers tended to the situation.
