The Houston softball team earned some hardware over the weekend.

The Lady Tigers won the Koshkonong Tournament by allowing the fewest runs among the teams in its pool. Overall, HHS went 2-2 in four games.

After losing the opener 12-11 Friday morning to Koshkonong, Houston bounced back with an 11-0 shutout Saturday morning of Cabool. The Lady Tigers then beat Alton 12-7 before losing to Mountain Grove 11-8.

HHS, Alton and Mountain Grove all finished with identical 1-1 records in pool play. The Lady Tigers won the tiebreaker by allowing 18 runs, compared to 20 for Mountain Grove and 22 for Alton. 

Houston (5-2) was seeded ninth out of 10 teams in the tournament.

In Saturday’s shutout of Cabool, Kameron Hall knocked in four runs and Jaden Stell had an inside-the-park home run for HHS. Shelby Ozier was 2-for-2 with four stolen bases.

Senior Emily Roberts scattered four hits while walking one and striking out one.

In the pool play opener, Roberts fanned eight batters while walking none as Houston topped Alton.

Freshman Hannah Dzurick was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and three runs scored. Roberts had three RBIs.

In the tournament finale, Jaida Curtis was 4-for-4 and Madison Curtis had three hits in the loss to Mountain Grove.

Roberts gave up 10 hits and 11 earned runs. She struck out four.
