Lucille Sullivan Denton, 89, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019.

She was born Feb. 7, 1930, daughter of Luther and “Lizzie” Laura Holland Sullivan. She and James Howard “Shorty” Denton were married Aug. 7, 1948.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She became a member of the Summersville Church of God of Prophecy in 1966 and attended church as long as she could.

She taught school at Round Valley and worked at Angelica Factories in Summersville, Mountain View and Eminence.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed working at the “Open Door,” where she dressed dolls for Christmas about 18 years.

She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and friend. She made her grandchildren quilt tops plus all the extras. She loved flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shorty; a grandson; and many siblings.

Survivors include four children, Marla Kay Denton, Lenual “Buck” Denton, Jimmy Denton and Timmy Denton; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Sullivan and Judith Weston; and many other family members.

Services were Monday, March 11, at Bradford Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Younger and Pastor Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery, Hartshorn.
