Rescue workers direct traffic on U.S. 63 following an accident Thursday afternoon involving a trailer pulling a backhoe.

An accident involving a trailer carrying a backhoe briefly closed U.S. 63 south of Houston on Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

Authorities responded around 4:15 p.m. near the Big Piney River Access at Simmons. Traffic was stopped in both directions as the machinery was removed from the roadway. Lanes fully reopened around 5:45 p.m.

The Houston Rural Fire Department rescue squad responded.
