Virginia Ann Combs, 83, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston.

She was born April 17, 1935, in Hornersville, daughter of Alvie William Grover Cleveland and Zella Bell Maness Goff. She and Russell Allen Combs were married July 28, 1951, in Salem, Ark.

She and her husband, Russell, lived in San Diego, Calif., while he was serving in the Navy. They returned to Missouri, first living in St. Louis, then Eminence and in 1983 moved to Summersville.

She worked for the United States Postal service for more than 20 years and retired in 1993 as the postmaster in Summersville.

She loved to craft, including crocheting and making quilts. But most of all she loved spoiling her grandkids and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; a daughter Debbie; a son Jeffrey; four sisters, Mae Goff Branum, Lucille Goff Statler, Lyle Goff Mansfield and Cora Goff Harrington; four brothers, Grover Goff, Alvie Goff, Bond Goff and Rueben Goff; and a half-sister, Linda Sue Goff Bennett.

Survivors include three children, Tim Combs, Ann Combs Tottingham and James Combs; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Cotton Creek Freewill Baptist Church near Alton. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Bradford Funeral Home, Summersville. Burial will be in Cotton Creek Cemetery near Alton.
