Claude W. Dickins Jr., 72, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at his home in Licking.

He was born March 1, 1947, in Richmond, Va., son of Claude and Doris Taylor Dickens. He and Amy Mooney were married Dec. 16, 1989, in Stoney Point, N.C.

He joined the Army as a specialist on Dec. 2, 1966, and served until Sept. 1, 1972. He was an active Army Reserve member from July 2, 1972, to Oct. 12, 1983. He was stationed at Ft. Ritchie, Md.

He was a truck driver for more than 30 years. He loved traveling to different cities and states. He enjoyed home gifts and stories for his grandchildren.

He loved the Lord with all his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Amy Dickens; a son, Wayne of Virginia; a daughter, Teresa of Virginia; three stepchildren, Debbie Harris of North Carolina, Steve Whitby of Arizona and Karen Miller of Missouri; a sister, Nita DeJarnette) of Virginia; two nephews; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church with Erin McConnell officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time. Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Williams Cemetery.
