Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Ozark Baptist Church, Houston.

Dolores Jean (Daniel) Nevarez was born on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 1936, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Mildred (nee McNew) and Marvin Daniel. She went to be with Jesus on Feb. 1, 2019, in Vista, Calif.

She grew up on a farm outside of Houston, Mo. She always loved Houston and never stopped having the Houston Herald sent to her wherever she lived.

Dolores married Willard Joe Luttrell in 1954. After 23 years of marriage, she and Joe Luttrell were divorced. Later, she was married to Lee Katz for a couple of years.

Dolores worked as a bank teller in Colorado in the 70s and retired in 1994 from Colorado School District #11 as a school secretary and district rental agent. She then relocated to southern California, where she met Henry.

She married her last love, Henry Nevarez, in December 1999 on Catalina Island, Calif.

She was an amazing seamstress and sewed most of her family’s clothing. She loved to go square dancing and round dancing in her beautiful hand-made dance outfits. She was also lead tenor in her church choir for years.

She loved to travel and was able to visit her children as military duty and missions had taken them to other countries. She was able to visit Japan and Europe, picking up souvenirs along the way. She was delighted to ride the Orient Express Train from Germany into Austria and visited the newly freed East Germany several timess. She also visited Canada and Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Marvin Daniel; her brother, Dean Daniel; her grandson, Nicholas Colatarci; and infant grandson, Jonathan Marshall.

She is survived by her loving husband, Henry Canales Nevarez of their home in Oceanside, Calif. She is also survived by her and Joe Luttrell’s three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Keller of Blakeslee, Pa., Dana Kay Marshall of Sebasco Estates, Maine, and Marilyn Jean Colatarci of Chesapeake, Va.; her sister, Marilyn Back of Cedar Park, Texas; her brothers, Jerry Daniel of Columbia, Mo., and Roy Daniel of Houston, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and currently eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Ozark Baptist Church (17490 Ozark Road, Houston, Mo., 65483). She will be interred at the cemetery next to the church. Everyone is welcome to come help us celebrate her life.
