Military veteran

Leonard Harlan Moffett, of Marshfield, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

He was born Nov. 24, 1944, in Columbia, son of Harlan and Leota Singleton Moffett.

He worked for the State of Missouri prison system as a guard in charge of the housing unit. He served in the Navy on the SS Sylvania during the Vietnam War, then in the Army Reserve.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Jefferson City, and American Legion Post 558 of Malta Bend.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, the St. Louis Cardinals and anything outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice Moffett.

Survivors include four children, Patsy Heusted of Marshall, Angie Kramm of Salem, Tammy LaRue of Stover and Shelly Gardner of Marshfield; two siblings, Leslie Moffett of South Padre Island, Texas, and Linda Britt (Jerry), Pawnee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.
