Licking man charged after allegedly striking woman

A Licking man faces a felony assault charge after allegedly hitting a woman on Sunday (April 28).

Texas County Sheriff Scott Lindsey reported that a deputy responded to a residence on Reed Road in the Licking area for a well-being check on a woman. Upon making contact, the deputy observed injuries to her face. 

Lindsey said the woman told the officer her injuries were the result of an alleged assault by a man, who was identified as Jimmy C. Royal, 27, of 11305 Reed Road at Licking. During further investigation, Royal admitted to striking the female in the face, Lindsey said.   

Royal was charged with second-degree assault by assistant Texas County prosecuting attorney Jason MacPherson. He is being in the Texas County Jail on $25,000 bond.
