Peggy Hart Evans, 87, passed away April 2, 2019. She was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Raymondville, Mo., to James William (Bill) Atkisson and Tressie (Wood) Atkisson.
Peggy attended grade school at Raymondville and graduated from Houston High School in 1950. Shortly after graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Kirby (Bob) Hart. Bob and Peggy moved to the family farm at Turley to start their married life together.
After Bob’s death, she married Clydie Evans. They were married for 10 years until the time of his death.
Peggy was baptized in the Roubidoux River and joined the Liberty Baptist Church shortly after moving to the Turley community in the 1950’s. She and Bob joined the Bucyrus Baptist Church when the kids were growing up, and she was a member of the First Christian Church in Houston at the time of her death.
Peggy worked at the Melba Theater while she was in high school. She also worked at PayLess 5 & 10 and was the secretary for Hart Farms, Inc., until she and Bob sold the farm and retired.
Peggy was involved in her church and her children’s activities: Serving as Sunday school and training union teacher, helping with VBS and 4-H. She and Bob attended numerous sporting events, supporting their kids and grandkids in everything from tee ball to high school and college level sports.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bob; her parents; a brother, Blaine Atkisson; a sister, Billie (Atkisson) Smith; a grandson, Justin Sparks; and her second husband, Clydie Evans.
She is survived by her four children, Karla Frey and husband, Ron, Dana Sparks and husband, Mike, J.K. Hart and wife, Vicki, and Devin Hart and wife, Sharon; as well as six grandchildren, Randon Frey, Tyler Sparks, Amber Hooper and husband, Brad, Dylan Hart and wife, Kristin, Callie Manier and husband, Scott, and Cory Hart and wife, Whitley; and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Marcie Atkisson of California; two brothers, Edward Atkisson and wife, Eve, of Rolla and Aaron Atkisson of Springfield. Also surviving is a stepson, Clydie Evans Jr. (Bud) and wife, Linda; step grandchildren, Matthew Evans and Misty Evans; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services were 3 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at Evans Funeral Home with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dylan Hart, Cory Hart, Tyler Sparks, Randon Frey, Brad Hooper and Scott Mainer.
The family respectfully suggests that donations be made to Houston Senior Center, in lieu of flowers.
