Sales tax revenue climbed during the latest monthly distribution in Houston, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Monthly revenue from a one-cent sales tax collected in Houston jumped about 13.1 percent from the same period in 2018, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total was about $64,057, which is a jump of $7,423 from last year. For the first quarter of the year, the total was $196,837, which is up about $15,901 from 2018 or 8.8 percent.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales tax for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each totaled about $14,788 for the month. That was an increase of about $1,041 on each.

The city also received about $2,903 in tax money from internet sales. For the first three months of the year, $11,299 has been generated.
