Success student Harper Wood, daughter of Michelle Wood and Scott Henshaw of Evening Shade, named 89 consecutive digits of Pi, competing against kindergarten through eighth grade students, to win a district contest. She is a first grader.
The competition, along with other activities, was March 14 at the Success School.
Harper practiced for several weeks before the contest, memorizing sets of numbers and then adding more and more until the event occurred. She practiced nearly every evening.
For her reward, Harper received some sweet treats, including a chocolate and lemon pie.
“Harper is an exceptional student with limitless potential. Her love of competition is a great motivational tool. Harper always wants to win,” said her teacher, Stacy Fletcher. “Harper can do just about anything she sets her mind to, and I can’t wait to see what else she accomplishes.”
