The Houston Police Department handled several investigations in the last week.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Delaina M. Laursen, 52, of 403 N. Grand Ave., No. 2, in Houston, was issued citations for driving while intoxicated and failure to properly signal turn after a traffic stop on Grand Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. May 5.

An officer made the stop after observing a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee come to a complete stop and turn into a driveway without signaling. After making contact with the driver, Laursen, the officer smelled alcohol and field sobriety tests were conducted. She was taken to jail for a 12-hour hold period.

•Willie G. Day, 36, of 18147 Grandview Road at Houston, was arrested May 9 for having active Texas County warrants – one for driving while revoked and no insurance and another for driving while revoked and resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony.

An officer made the arrest at the state probation and parole office in Houston after being advised Day was there. He was taken to the Texas County Jail and held without bond on the two capias warrants.

•At about 6:40 p.m. April 15, an officer was dispatched to the Sonic restaurant in Houston regarding a report of a counterfeit $100 bill being passed.

The officer made contact with an employee who produced the fake bill and said the man who had tried to use it had been confronted and paid real money for his food. Investigation determined the bill had been passed by a 32-year-old Cabool man.

The suspect was contacted by a Cabool police officer and agreed to questioning. During subsequent searches, the CPD officer reportedly found 92 more phony $100 bills in the man’s vehicle and 20 in his Second Street residence.

The man reportedly told an investigating HPD officer he had purchased the bills from Wish.com and that they looked so fake that he didn’t think anyone would take them, but that he “had to try.” A total of 116 of the fake bills were eventually seized as evidence.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.

•A 68-year-old woman reported on May 4 that a freezer valued at $200 that contained about $200 worth of food had been stolen from her Sugar Maple Drive residence. Investigation continues.
