A Vanzant man faces drug charges after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation May 8.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey reported that deputies were dispatched to Austin Lake in the Dunn area for a report of a man creating a disturbance and striking a vehicle with a baseball bat. Upon arrival, officers contacted the man and observed signs of drug impairment.
The man was identified as Clayton Tatera, 31, of Vanzant. Lindsey said a consent search of Tatera’s belongings revealed medication identified as a controlled substance for which he did not have a prescription. He was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail. The medication will be sent to the crime laboratory for confirmation and a probable cause statement will also be sent to the Texas County prosecuting attorney seeking formal charges.
