The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy responded May 10 to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Hogan Road residence at Houston.
The officer made contact with a 43-year-old woman outside the home who said a 64-year-old resident inside had yelled at her and made aggressive moves toward her. The deputy spoke with the resident and she said the woman outside was a relative and she didn’t want her there because she didn’t trust her.
The officer advised the family member that the woman inside didn’t want here there and she left.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 11:15 p.m. regarding a report of two boys, ages 15 and 16, missing from a Timberline Road residence at Willow Springs.
A 38-year-old woman there said the older boy had took off about two hours earlier and not returned, and that the other boy went looking for him and had also not returned.
The deputy located the boys on Timberline Road about a mile from their residence and took them home.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 12:15 a.m. April 20 regarding a report of a domestic disturbance at a Highway CC residence at Licking.
A 57-year-old woman told the officer she was trying to get something to eat when her 27-year-old daughter threatened to fight her if she woke up her sleeping daughter. The woman’s daughter denied making any threat but said she had asked her mom to be quieter since her daughter was sick and asleep.
The woman told the officer she wanted her daughter to leave. The daughter said she was arranging to get a ride so she could leave.
•A deputy was dispatched April 19 regarding a report of a domestic disturbance at a Highway C residence at Licking.
A 58-year-old man there told the officer he wanted to evict his 48-year-old stepson and thought he had thrown a glass at his wife, who is the stepson’s mother, but it was actually the woman who threw the glass at her son.
Nobody wanted to pursue charges.
•A deputy was dispatched to Texas County Memorial Hospital at about 2:15 p.m. May 6 regarding a report of a man with a gunshot wound to his face.
The man (59, of Mountain Grove) told the officer he had been practicing at the shotgun area of the Gist Ranch Conservation Area shooting range when his gun jammed. He said when he was trying to clear the jam, the gun discharged and he was struck in the face.
The man told the officer he didn’t think the shotgun was loaded and wasn’t very familiar with how it operated. He said after he was shot, he made contact with two other men at the range and they gave him a ride to the hospital.
After leaving the hospital, the deputy went back to the range and made contact with the two men, who confirmed the story.
