Gaye Lynn (Scearce) Brockelbank was born Jan. 23, 1957; she was welcomed home by her parents, Leonard and Cleo (Albertson) Scearce. Gaye departed this life after a lengthy illness on May 21, 2019, at the age of 62 years.
Gaye spent her childhood days playing and exploring on the family farm on Piney Creek.
On April 26, 1974 Gaye was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Michael Brockelbank. This union of 45 years brought forth two sons, Shawn and Adam.
Gaye had a love for people. She was known for her welcoming personality, along with a giving heart for others.
She always sought employment outside of her home, mainly to see people and make lasting friendships. Her many years of working came to an end with retirement from the USDA, in Houston, Mo., where she worked as an IT specialist. Her declining health took away the joy of retirement, leaving her only to look forward to time spent with family and loving on her grandbabies, whom she cherished.
Gaye was raised in a home to know of God’s mercy and grace. There is comfort in knowing she accepted Jesus into her heart and in the end she is finally at peace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Cleo.
She is survived by husband, Mike of the family home; her sons, Shawn Brockelbank and wife, Tammy, of West Plains, Mo., and Adam Brockelbank and wife, Janetta, of Strafford, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Chris (Baily), Becky, Jordan (Erick), Josie, Uriah, Elijah and Abrianna; four great-grandchildren, Addy, Levi, Emma and Zane; one brother, Steve Scearce of Mountain Grove, Mo.; and a “son,” Moe who they adopted into their hearts and home.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered always.
A graveside service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019, in Bado Cemetery with Danny Call officiating. Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Shawn Brockelbank, Adam Brockelbank, Chris Brockelbank, Erick Terry, Maurice Morrell and Scott Stilley.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
