Houston junior Connor Wilson will start for the Tigers as they open district play Tuesday against Cabool.

The Houston baseball team opens district play Tuesday with a 4 p.m. semifinal matchup against Cabool in the Class 3 District 10 tournament. The Tigers are hosting the six-team field.

After being postponed Saturday by inclement weather, districts opened Monday with fourth-seeded Mountain Grove edging No. 5 Willow Springs 6-3 and the sixth-seeded Bulldogs upsetting Liberty 2-0.

Top-seeded Licking and the Tigers both received first-round byes. The Wildcats face Mountain Grove at 2 p.m. Tuesday, following by HHS and Cabool at 4 p.m.

The championship game is 4 p.m. May 14.

HHS (14-9) won 11 of its last 13 games during the latter part of the season before losing its final three games to Plato, Salem and Mansfield.

Houston beat Cabool twice during the regular season: 1-0 and 2-1.

The Tigers last won districts in 2007, when they finished second in the state. The program also won district championships in 1992, 1980, 1975, 1960 and 1959.
