Houston High School graduated seniors May 18 who could receive $381,000 in scholarships and other aid, school officials announced. Many of the financial awards were disclosed during graduation May 18.

PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE

The President’s Award  for Educational Excellence requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 and to score in the 85th percentile on reading or math on the ACT or score in the top two levels on the EOC tests. Receiving the award were Summer Floyd, Savannah McNaughton, Mackenzie Reber and Jade Sisco.

PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

The President’s Award for Educational Achievement shows outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development in the students’ academic subjects. GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER AWARD

The George Washington Carver Award is from the Governor of Missouri and presented to the top 10 percent of the senior class, based upon seven semesters of course work.  Receiving the award were  Darby Bell, Melody Buse´, Summer Floyd, Haylie Heathington, Charlee Sue Jadwin, Dawson Koch, Jade Sisco and Thomas Smith.

In addition to various financial programs, many seniors qualified for the A+ Program worth $7,000/year for a two-year total of $14,000.
