The Houston tennis team will play for a district championship Thursday after cruising to a semifinal victory.
The Tigers topped West Plains 5-1 in Class 1 District 9 on Tuesday. They had received a first-round bye.
HHS won two of the three doubles matches. Isaiah Buse and Kyler Ramsey were 8-3 winners. Clayton Moore and Kyle Mills teamed up for an 8-4 victory.
The team of Elliot Clark and Prairie Nunnery lost 8-6.Â
The Tigers (8-2) won the opening three singles pairings to close out the match. Buse won 6-3, 6-2 while Ramsey cruised 6-2, 6-0 and Moore was a 6-2, 6-4 winner.

District play consists of three doubles matches to eight and six best-of-3 singles matches to six. The first team to win five matches advances.Â

Houston will play Willow Springs on Thursday.
