Mary Agnes (Sack) Kirkman, 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 13, 2019. One of 13 children born to Christopher and Agnes (Waller) Sack on March 26, 1924, she grew up in Seneca, Kan., and graduated from Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School. Mary moved to Kansas City, Mo., during WWII and worked for Hallmark. While in Kansas City, she met and married Delmar C (Tuffy) Kirkman on Feb. 24, 1945. Mary and Delmar made their home in Houston, Mo., where six children were born of this marriage.
Mary worked for Houston Elementary School as an office administrator for 25 years. She was an original member of St Mark’s Catholic Church and spent her lifetime active in church functions. Mary was also a 37-year volunteer with Texas County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She was best known for her sunny disposition, kindness to all and her daily zest for life. Mary’s pride and joy was her unconditional, enduring love for and within her family as well as the countless friends she acquired over her lifetime.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar in 1982; her son, James (Jimmy) in 1995; infant great-grandson, Will Shipman in 1999; and 11 of her siblings.
She is survived by five children, Connee Kirkman, Springfield, Mo., Bill Kirkman (Susan), Springfield, Mo., Becky Leier and Joe Kirkman (Tammy) and Mary Beth Shea (Charlie) of Houston, Mo. Mary is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joann Davis, Lincoln, N.E.
A funeral mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at St Mark’s Catholic Church, Houston. Burial will be in Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers are her six grandsons, Jeff Allen, Tony Leier, Nick Leier, Chris Kirkman, Dustin Kirkman and Michael Shea.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Mark’s Catholic Church.
