The Houston baseball team received the second seed for the Class 3 District 10 tournament they will host this month.

Top-seeded Licking and the Tigers both have first-round byes in the six-team bracket that begins May 11. Fourth-seeded Mountain Grove and No. 5 Willow Springs play at 2 p.m., followed by No. 3 Liberty and sixth-seeded Cabool at 4 p.m.

The semifinals are May 13 with Licking facing the Mountain Grove-Willow Springs winner at 2 p.m. Houston hosts the Liberty-Cabool winner at 4 p.m. The championship game is 4 p.m. May 14.

HHS (14-6) has won 11 of its last 13 games entering Friday’s regular-season home finale with Plato. The Tigers own close wins over both of their potential semifinal opponents – 10-9 against Liberty on April 4 as well as 1-0 and 2-1 against Cabool.

The Tigers last won districts in 2007, when they finished second in the state. The program also won district championships in 1992, 1980, 1975, 1960 and 1959.
