A Raymondville man faces a felony assault charge after an alleged altercation with a woman during an argument March 26 in Houston.

Ryan L. Wolfe, 26, of 295 Old Yukon Road at Raymondville, is charged with second-degree domestic assault (a class D felony).

According to a probable cause statement written by a Houston Police Department officer, the policeman was dispatched to an Ozark Street residence at about 8:50 p.m. regarding a report of a man assaulting a woman. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the woman, who had red marks around her throat, had blood coming from her mouth and had a cut on her nose, he said.

The woman identified Wolfe as the culprit. Another woman said the incident occurred on Ozark Street.

The officer went there and observed that a door to the home was broken. When the man who lives there opened the door, the officer observed blood on the carpet.

The man told the officer the incident had happened after Wolfe and the woman had been drinking and got into an argument. He stated that as the two fought, he believed Wolfe might kill the woman so he tried to break up the battle and Wolfe attacked him.

Wolfe, who was charged June 5,  is held in the Texas County Jail on $150,000 bond.
