Elmer Bradford, 90, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019, in Ava.

He was born March 8, 1929, in Clear Springs, son of George and Maudie Bradford. He and Yvonne Bradford were married Feb. 24, 1951.

He had a career as a horseshoer for a vast clientele all over the state. He was proud of his trade and passed the skills onto anyone desiring to learn this art.

He enjoyed chasing down a runnin’ dog, spending time on the bank of a fishing pond, on the horse-shoeing trail, on the back of a three-wheeler running all over his farm or headed to a deer stand in Tyrone.

He was preceded in death by six siblings, Woodrow Bradford, George Emmett Bradford, Mae Linderer, Ellen Rakestraw, Ella Sherrill and Gene Bradford.

Survivors include four children, Donna Spacek of Ava, Ericka Armstrong of Wasola, Linda Ogden of Rogers, Ark., and Robert Bradford of Kansas City; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other extended family members.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Bradford Funeral Home, Summersville, with the Rev. Rick Spacek and Brother Don Ogden officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Clear Springs Cemetery.
