Counterfeit money was found at a Success business.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A deputy was dispatched June 11 to Texas County Memorial Hospital regarding a report of a dog bite.

The officer made contact with a 26-year-old woman there who said her son had been bitten by a terrier at a Highway 17 residence at Success. She stated her son’s father was watching the dog while the 45-year-old man who owns it was in jail.

The woman advised the deputy that no stitches were needed.

The officer contacted the dog’s owner at the county jail and he said the dog was not vicious and the boy might have been pulling on it to get it to bite him.

•A 69-year-old Summersville woman reported on June 6 that a Woods tiller valued at $3,300 had been stolen from her Harlow Road residence. The woman named a 27-year-old Mountain View man as a suspect.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 9:20 p.m. regarding a report of an intoxicated man who had fallen into a vase at a U.S. 63 location at Cabool.

While the officer was on the way there, dispatch advised a woman there had stated the man was being “erratic” and she had moved into another room for safety. A dispatcher also said the man and woman could be heard yelling at each other and that the woman at one point said if the man didn’t stop yelling, she would hit him again.

Upon arrival, the officer was told by both parties that they didn’t want to pursue charges, and both stated the man had fallen and hit his head on a vase. The man was taken by ambulance for medical treatment.

•On June 14, a deputy investigated a report of two counterfeit $20 bills been passed at Pittman’s Store at Success.

A man at the store told the officer the fake cash was taken in between 1 and 6 p.m. Surveillance video showed three men with know criminal histories come into the store at about 5 p.m. and two of the suspects each give the cashier one of the phony bills. Investigation continues.

•A deputy responded at about 5:50 p.m. June 4 to a report of a domestic assault in progress at a Highway 17 residence at Success.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a man and woman who stated they had witnessed a 37-year-old Cabool woman striking an 18-year-old Bucyrus boy with what appeared to be a pipe or tire tool. The two told the officer the boy had grabbed the weapon from the suspect and thrown it into a ditch before walking away toward Highway AP.

The deputy located the victim, who reportedly had redness and swelling on the side of his left knee and his left rib area. Another deputy located the suspect, arrested her and took her to jail.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a felony assault charge against her.

•A deputy was dispatched to the Texas County Jail at about 7:20 p.m. June after a 40-year-old female inmate from Mountain Grove was reportedly found to be in possession of a plastic bag containing methamphetamine.

Nothing else illegal was found during a search of the woman’s cell. A report was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a felony drug possession charge.
