The Houston Police Department handled several investigations in the last week.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Houston Police Department:

•Amanda M. Houston, 30, of 412 Phelps St. in Houston, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at about 9 p.m. May 20.

An officer made the stop after observing a gold Chevrolet Monte Carlo with expired license plates traveling on U.S. 63. After making contact with the vehicle in the Corner Express Shell station, the officer did a computer check on the male driver and the two women and one man who were passengers and gained consent to search the car.

During the search, the officer found two syringes inside a makeup bag in a purse and Houston reportedly stated the bag was hers and the syringes were for methamphetamine.

•Micheal W. Grange, 36, and Amanda M. Stokes, 38, both of 1032 Thomasville Road in Houston, were each issued citations for fourth-degree domestic assault after an incident at their residence at about 9:30 p.m. May 18.

•Echo L. Deeds, 19, of 16595 Gettys Road at Houston, was issued citations for driving while suspended, no insurance and no seatbelt after a traffic stop at U.S. 63 and Thomasville Road at about 9:50 p.m. May 17.

•Jesse R. Blanks, 37, of 21496 Hunter Drive at Summersville, was issued a citation for peace disturbance after an incident at about 10:15 p.m. May 15.

An officer was dispatched to the Dollar Tree parking lot regarding a report of a man trying to stop a girl from jogging. The officer made contact with the girl, 18, and she said she often jogs on Thomasville Road and this time a man stopped her in the roadway.

She told the officer the man – Blanks – kept saying he had just fought off the police force, and that he could “protect” her. She said he tried to touch her in the shoulder area multiple times and she felt threatened.

She told the officer when she tried to get away, Blanks would step in front of her and tell her he would protect her.

The officer spoke with a man who witnessed the incident from his front porch, and he said Blanks appeared drunk and that he told Blanks to leave the girl alone. He said a friend of Blanks stopped and picked him up in a vehicle.

Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained Blanks and brought him to jail. He was reportedly combative and yelled at jail staff and refused to comply with officers’ commands. He was ultimately taken to the ground and subdued for officers’ safety, according to a report.

•Barbara L. Beasley, 84, of 9896 Sackett Road in Raymondville, was cited for failure to yield right-of- way after a two-vehicle accident at U.S. 63 and Walnut Street at about noon May 23.
