The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce will host a huge demolition derby event this Friday and Saturday (June 7 and 8) in the arena at the county fairgrounds on north U.S. 63.
The event begins at 7 p.m.
“Show Me Smash” will be put on by K & P Promotions (of Hot Springs, Ark.) and will feature up to 150 cars – including many from outside Missouri – and a $10,000 payout. Chamber executive director Angie Quinlan said entries from as far away as North Carolina and Canada have already committed. The entry fee is $100.
Trophies will be awarded in four categories: “Crowd Favorite,” “Best Paint Job,” “Most Damaged Car” and “Farthest Traveled.” Other prizes will also be presented.
The event is part of an annual circuit sponsored by K&P and 2019 season points will be up for grabs.
Admission for spectators is $10, or $5 for kids ages 6 to 12. Kids 5-and-under get in free. Gates open at 5 p.m. both nights and competition begins at 7 p.m.
Pit pass admission is $30 per day or $50 for a two-day pass, or $15 and $20 for children ages 9 to 13. Pit passes for kids 9-and-under are free.
