Texas County Technical College was selected as one of the Top 20 Practical Nursing (LPN) programs in Missouri for the second year in a row, advancing one spot from last year. reviewed 41 schools in Missouri and examined a number of criteria to determine the overall placement of the schools. The areas of focus to determine the rankings included: accreditation, NCLEX exam scores from the past five years and the number of students who graduated the program in the past five years.  TCTC was the only LPN program in the area that received an ‘A’ grade.

TCTC met the initial requirement to be considered for ranking because it is an accredited institution; the school is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). The second requirement considered for ranking is high NCLEX exam scores from the past five years. Passing the NCLEX-PN exam is required to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and to get a nursing job after graduation, so this is an important factor when considering nursing schools. TCTC students use the resources included in their complete partnership with Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI), a company that specializes in NCLEX prep, during their entire program. The resources and three day ATI Live Review Study Session have helped raise the NCLEX exam pass scores for the graduates of TCTC.

“I am proud of the continued hard work our students, faculty and staff have put in to advance our programs and earn this ranking for a second year in a row,” said TCTC President Charlotte Gray. “ Having the top LPN program in this area shows the commitment our students have to being the best nurses possible.”

The next LPN program begins on Aug. 26, and seats are still available for that program. The next Accelerated LPN to RN program begins May 2020. Persons wanting more more information about the LPN or Accelerated LPN to RN program can call 417-967-5466.
