Persons interested in learning more about Missouri’s black bear population are invited to open houses in south-central Missouri.

Those attending will learn more about the population, the Missouri Department of Conservation’s black bear research projects and management efforts. A draft management plan, potential hunting opportunities and how to handle conflicts with nuisance bears will be discussed.

The sessions are 6 to 8 p.m. A presentation starts at 6 p.m. No registration is required.

•July 9, Missouri Department of Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way, Springfield.

•July 11, The Landing, 110 Front St., Van Buren.

•July 18, First Baptist Church, 202 Walnut St., West Plains.
