A Raymondville man is jailed and faces a felony drug charge following a traffic stop by a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
James Hart, 58, of Raymondville, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
Sheriff Scott Lindsey said a deputy on patrol at about 2 a.m. observed a vehicle failing to drive on the right half of the roadway on Highway B in the Raymondville area. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Hart.
Lindsey said the deputy performed field sobriety tests on Hart and conducted a pat down search. A syringe and bag containing a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine were found, he said.
Hart was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail, and assistant Texas County prosecuting attorney Jason MacPherson later charged him. Hart is held in the Texas County Jail with a bond set at $150,000.
