Funds received by Texas County as payment on internet sales outside the area are putting the government entity on firmer financial footing, according to Missouri Department of Revenue.
In the first six months of the year, $140,037 has been received by county government. Residents approved the measure — a use tax — last year.
The funds are a bright spot in an otherwise flat sales tax revenue report for the first half of the year. For the year, about $554,823 has been collected on each of three half-cent sales taxes. That’s nearly unchanged from the previous year.
