Deputies responded to many calls in the county recently.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A deputy on patrol June 6 on Highway 17 and Highway W at Summersville observed a truck with its door open sitting beside Midvale Church.

The officer made contact with a 34-year-old Summersville man there who said he was visiting his daughter’s grave site. The deputy noticed the truck didn’t have license plates on it and asked the man if the vehicle belonged to him. The man reportedly replied it belonged to his mother.

The deputy then asked the man if anything illegal was inside the vehicle, and he produced an electronic cigarette and stated it contained THC.

Two other deputies then began to search the truck and the man produced a plastic bag that contained a substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine.

The first deputy then advised the man the bag would be sent to a lab and a warrant for his arrest would be sought.

The man told the officer he would have someone come get the truck and he would be walking.

•James M. Middleton, 23, and Amber R. Henderson, both of 17125 Sylvia Lane at Houston, were each issued citations for peace disturbance after a domestic incident at their residence on June 5.

•A 62-year-old Licking man reported on June 22 that a lawn ornament had been swiped from his mother’s Van Cleave Drive residence more than a year earlier.

The man told an investigating officer his son had lived at the location for about nine years and taken the ornament when he moved out.

•A 39-year-old Licking man reported on June 29 that a Stihl backpack leaf blower valued at $500 had been stolen from his truck.

The man told an investigating officer the suspect was a man driving a white Chevrolet pickup. He said he had located the suspect’s vehicle on the roadway, but couldn’t get it to stop. Investigation continues.
