CALVIN CORNELIUS

Following a Texas County Sheriff’s Department investigation of an incident on Tuesday, a Cabool man faces four felony charges and is held in jail on $1 million bond.

Calvin C. Cornelius, 33, of Cabool, is charged with first-degree domestic assault (a class B felony), second-degree kidnapping (a class D felony), unlawful use of a weapon (a class E felony) and armed criminal action (an unclassified felony).

According to a probable cause statement, a woman and a 13-year-old girl came to the TCSD office to report a domestic assault involving a knife.

The woman told a deputy Cornelius had come to her residence drunk at about 5 a.m. and said he wanted to talk. But according to the woman, he ended up yelling at her, grabbing her by the hair and taking a knife out of his pocket and threatening to cut her throat with it, authorities said.

The report stated that Cornelius also threatened to cut the throats of the girl and a babysitter. After Cornelius was taken into custody, officers searched the residence and found a black folding knife. The woman and girl both reportedly identified it as the weapon used in the incident.
