The Houston Education Foundation (HEF) will host a fundraising event at the Piney River Brewing Co. in Bucyrus from 2 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31 (today).
During the “Raise a Pint for Education” event, a portion of all pint sales will benefit the foundation. HEF members will offer grilled bratwurst, a silent auction will be held for items donated by local businesses and live music will be performed by Houston High School graduate Kirk Pierce.
The HEF’s mission is “promoting education excellence and opportunity beyond the scope of the Houston R-1 school system by generating financial resources from private funds to provide support for education programs.”
With donor support, HEF has in the past funded Chromebook computers and charging carts for use in grades 3-5 and 7-12, new uniforms for band members, multi-purpose portable risers with safety rails (used mostly by students in choir), a sound system for Hiett Gymnasium and more.
The brewery is family-oriented (non-alcoholic Andy’s Root Beer will be available) and dog-friendly. The address is 15194 Walnut Grove Drive. For more information, call 417-967-4001.
