Members of the Houston High School football team remove tables, chairs, cubicle walls and other items from the space formerly occupied by Air Evac in the building on Spruce Street to make room for Piney River Technical College classrooms.

The Houston High School football program recently helped the Houston Industrial Development Authority clean out space for the new Piney River Technical Center.

Moving tables, chairs, cubicle walls and other equipment from space formerly occupied by Air-Evac Lifeteam was part of the work being done to build new classrooms for general education classes that will be starting in October. After the hard work of all 40 boys and coaching staff, the IDA donated $500 to the Tigers football program to help with purchasing a new watering system. “The total cost of the system is $1,500 and this $500 is a huge step into making sure our players have the needed equipment to keep our team competitive,” said City of Houston economic development director Rob Harrington.

Anyone who would like to donate money to the football program can drop checks off to the high school office (made out to Houston Tigers football), or call head coach Eric Sloan at 417-967-3024.
