The Houston school board made a handful of hires last week during a special session held two weeks before the beginning of classes.
The board unanimously approved hiring Shane Pitts (assistant high school football coach), Kylee Elmore (paraprofessional and assistant middle school girls basketball coach), Renee McComas (paraprofessional and bus driver), Linda France (speech-language pathologist) and Tresea Cole (food service) for the 2019-20 school year.
The hires of Elmore, McComas, France and Cole are pending background checks.
Also during the meeting, resignations were accepted from Rodney Preheim (paraprofessional and assistant football coach) and Maddison Franklin (speech-language pathologist).
The new school year begins Aug. 15.
