Local businesses contribute to seating project

*Editors note: This is the first in a column series designed to keep the public informed about the Texas County Food Pantry.

The Texas County Food Pantry is dedicated to serving people in our community who find themselves in need of a helping hand. 

Here are some statistics from our work in July 2019:

•Food Assistance – 487 households.

•173 one-time assistance.

•897 total individuals.

Also, the local Salvation Army assisted 13 households and helped 22 individuals.

Financial donations the Food Pantry received totaled $502.20, while our assistance cost was $3207.65.

We have recently cut back our thrift store hours due to lack of public interest. We will no longer be open until 5 p.m. on Friday and will be closed on Saturday. For all of our thrift store weekend enthusiasts, don’t worry! It will once again be open on Saturdays when summer hours kick in next year during May through August! 

Currently, our thrift store hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Speaking of hours, the Food Pantry’s hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and emergency office hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Please keep in mind, we accept material and monetary donations. Please drop off items at our gate located on Thomasville Road. The gates are open during business hours.

The Texas County Food Pantry would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the following businesses for their support in donations for our new outdoor seating: Progressive Ozark Bank, Chilton Oil Co., Evans Funeral Home, Houston Ministerial Alliance, Landmark Bank and The Bank of Houston

Because of your contributions we have received $850 of our $2,500 goal!
