Monthly sales tax collections were down in Houston, according to the latest report.

Revenue from a one-cent sales tax collected in Houston was down about 3.5 percent for the July distribution compared to 2018, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total was $49,611, which was down $1,795 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $429,131 has been collected. That’s up about $16,082 from a year ago or 3.9 percent.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each totaled about $12,079 for the month. That was down about $239 on each.

Funds from local sales tax applied to out-of-state sales totaled $11,877 for the month.
