Texas County Technical College held graduation ceremonies Saturday, May 4, for its Accelerated LPN and RN class of 2019. Twenty-five students graduated at First Baptist Church in Houston.

The following students graduated cum laude: Brittney Loncosky, Secelia Stephenson, Lexi Westrup and Bayli McNew. Tabitha Hankins graduated magna cum laude.

The graduates were Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) before starting the program and chose to further their education through the Accelerated LPN to RN program at TCTC. The graduates transitioned into a Registered Nurse (RN) leadership mindset during the three semester program and participated in multiple simulation and skills labs and clinical rotations at local hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities.

The graduates completed a three-day NCLEX review with a trained specialist to help prepare the students for the licensure exam. All 25 graduates completed the exam and the class has a 96 percent first time pass-rate. Now, graduates can begin working as Professional Nurses (RN).

For persons interested in becoming an RN and are now an LPN, applications for the May 2020 Accelerated LPN to RN program are now being accepted. The next Practical Nursing (LPN) program at TCTC begins Aug. 26.
