Several emergency responders gather at midfield Friday night in Tiger Stadium after Houston senior Dontae Pritchett sustained a horrific injury late in the third quarter.

A Houston High School season-opening victory Friday came with cheers for the home win and sorrow for a Tiger who was injured.

Dontae Pritchett sustained a broken fibula (lower leg) and dislocated ankle late in the third quarter.

Houston School District officials said Pritchett was in good spirits in a Springfield hospital late Friday night and was expected to be discharged.

The game at Tiger Stadium came to a halt as emergency personnel attempted to deploy a helicopter, but weather conditions prevented it.
