With a three-touchdown outburst in just over three minutes of the second quarter, the Houston Middle School seventh-grade football team blanked Cabool 20-0 Thursday in Tiger Stadium.

Houston got on the board with 4:52 left in the first half on a 49-yard touchdown run up the left side by Javon Ross.

After Ezekiel Grange recovered a fumble by Cabool quarterback Blaine Davis, the Tigers struck again a short time later on a 26-yard touchdown run by Alex Meyer. When Meyer tacked on a 2-point conversion run, Houston was up 14-0.

The Tigers regained possession late in the second quarter, and took the ball deep into Bulldog territory with time running down. With 2 seconds left in the half, Meyer entered the end zone again on a 7-yard TD run and the final score was in place at 20-0.

Houston’s eighth-grade squad fell to Cabool, 28-0.

The HMS teams play next Thursday at Liberty.
