Members of the Texas County Commission held meetings on Sept. 4-5

Members:

•Visited with Jason Silvis from Great Rivers Engineering, Springfield, and toured the Paddy Creek Bridge area in northwest Texas County. The structure is being studied for improvements.

•Met with Smith & Company Engineers, Poplar Bluff,  and Burdine Township related to a bridge project.

•Reviewed correspondence from the Missouri Department of Agriculture regarding a remonumentation project that helps establish new surveying corners.

•Visited with Assessor Debbie James about an upcoming commissioner order set for November.

•Heard from Sheriff Scott Lindsey regarding staffing changes. Jeremy Wallace resigned as a full-time jailer on Aug. 30. Megan Brown became a full-time jailer on Sept. 3. Discussed replacement of a wrecked vehicle, a 2016 Ford Explorer. It would be replaced with a 2019 Dodge Durango. Internet service at the justice center was discussed.

•Met with Chris Young of Murphy Tractor in Springfield regarding township equipment.

•Met with Ron Reed, economic developer for Cabool, regarding L & R Industries and Enhanced Enterprise Zone Credits.
