The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy was dispatched Sept. 28 regarding a property dispute between two neighbor men at a U.S. 63 residence at Houston.
A 48-year-old man told the officer he wanted his South Pole shorts back and a 25-year-old man said he wanted his telescoping light back. The officer recovered both items and gave them back to their owners.
•A deputy was dispatched to the Cabool Police Department on Sept. 10 after a 51-year-old woman reported that her 65-year-old stepmother had fired a gun at her.
The woman told the deputy she didn’t see her stepmom point the gun at her, but she heard it go off. The woman said her 70-year-old father had witnessed the incident, but he told the officer nobody shot at his daughter. The stepmother told the officer she had shot a gun, but denied shooting at her stepdaughter.
•A 64-year-old Licking man reported on Sept. 25 that the passenger side tires on his 2000 Range Rover had been slashed.
An investigating deputy observed the vehicle and saw puncture marks in two flat tires in the passenger side. The man named two other men as suspects, indicating he recently had their truck towed off of his property as an abandoned vehicle.
•A 68-year-old Raymondville woman reported on Sept. 12 that her 48-year-old son had taken her truck (of unreported make and model) without permission and had wrecked it in Springfield. She stated she wanted to report it stolen.

Deputies from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department were called to several investigations in the last week.
•Deputies were dispatched Sept. 21 regarding a report of a stolen vehicle at a Highway MM residence at Cabool.
A 39-year-old woman there told officers her 40-year-old former boyfriend had taken off in her 1999 white Chevrolet pickup after an argument. She stated the man still had a key to the vehicle from when they were dating. Investigation is ongoing.
