Two persons faces multiple charges following an investigation by the Licking Police Department.

A local man and woman each face multiple felony charges after a Licking Police Department investigation of a series of thefts from storage units in August.

Vicky L. Chiasson, 44, of 220 Carter St., Apt. 8, in Licking, and James L. Hatcher II, 41, of 16997 Highway N at Edgar Springs, are each charged with three counts of felony second-degree burglary and three counts of misdemeanor stealing.

A Licking Police Department officer reported that multiple people had in August complained of having items stolen from storage units at a facility in Licking. Then on Aug. 22, the Dent County Sheriff’s Department advised the officer that Hatcher was in custody for burglaries in Dent County.

The officer traveled to Dent County and located property reported stolen in Licking inside an unleased storage unit.

During further investigation, the officer reportedly viewed surveillance video from the Licking storage facility and observed Hatcher and Chiasson on the property for more than two hours, even though neither of them rents a unit there. The two were seen in a tan GMC pickup pulling a trailer loaded with items.

On Aug. 31, a push mower reported stolen was found at a small engine repair business in Licking. The owner of the business reportedly told the officer he had purchased the trailer and its load from Hatcher and Chiasson for $1,000.

As of Friday, Chiasson was in jail but Hatcher was still being sought. Their bonds are set at $150,000.
